The Heart of Tableau: The Community

The Tableau community is undeniably one of the greatest gifts that I have encountered in my academic life and start of my career. The community is very unique. It’s users from all around the world who come together online on Twitter, Tableau Public, in-person user groups, or conferences. They are the most selfless and generous group of individuals I’ve ever come across. The community comes together to share ideas, answer questions, encourage each other, create stunning visualizations, host user groups, and more. It’s an exciting thing to be a part of. I’ve made so many friends in different countries and we’re all joined together by our love for data visualization, analytics, and Tableau!

One of the best ways to get connected with the community is through Twitter (more on that in the next post), and joining a user group. As a student, it would be especially beneficial to start attending a user group in your area.

If you follow the link above and search your city, you may find a user group near you. Tableau user groups are usually run monthly and members will present on several Tableau related topics and network with each other. It’s a great way to network and meet users in the field!
