Interactive Resumes

One of the most awesome things you can do as a student learning Tableau is make a resume with Tableau! Interactive resumes have been becoming popular lately because they offer you a lot of flexibility and creativity and space to put more information than a regular resume, such as fun facts or programs and projects. Note that an interactive resume shouldn’t necessarily replace a regular paper resume when submitting job applications, but it’s something that you could include a link to in your application or bring up in an interview!

Here’s a link to the Tableau resume gallery: https://public.tableau.com/en-us/s/interactive-resume-gallery

Here’s a couple examples of interactive resumes, be sure to click the links to see the interactivity!

Here you can see that there’s various styles and formats that you can use, the possibilities are endless!

Below I’ll show you mine and walk you through my thought process in creating it, cause it’s probably the most different “style” out of other resumes you may see on Tableau.

My design for my (more on the fun side) resume is actually heavily influenced by me being a student. When I made my resume, I didn’t have a lot of relevant job experience that I could put down. I had one internship, and the rest of my work experience consisted of nannying and being a camp counselor. So a timeline of my work experience was out of the picture. Once I realized that, I decided to pull together everything that I could include, and what I chose actually influenced the design. I chose to highlight my projects and programs and putting everything into objects allowed me the space to expand on the details of my participation in the hovers. I had space to put my classwork, and I expanded on the details of my internship through bubbles and hovers. Surprisingly, my resume got a lot of positive feedback and attention on LinkedIn and Twitter. People loved it!

Making these resumes can allow you to expand upon your creative side and present a more personal side to a resume.

If you want to start making your own, download a resume that you like from the gallery and see how they structured their data, and build off of that. Be creative and show your own style in your resume!
